San Fernando Cathedral

San Fernando Cathedral is a Catholic as well as the historical centerpiece of San Antonio. San Fernando has witnessed many battles and events and stood its ground as one of the oldest cathedrals in the country. If you’re a historical fanatic or trying to learn more about the glorious history of Texas, San Fernando is the place to start at.

About San Fernando Cathedral

San Fernando Cathedral had made its landmark in the city in the 17th century as one of the first churches in Texas. Named after King Ferdinand III, the cathedral has played an integral role in history, the most significant of which is the siege of the Alamo. Thus, this is also where you get to see the remains of the Alamo soldiers in coffins. While the church has been renovated several times, the sanctuary wall holds the essence of the original structure.

Address: 115 Main Plaza, San Antonio, TX 78205
